Ultraman is a Japanese science-fiction/superhero franchise created by Eiji Tsuburaya, who not just worked as a special effects director on the first few Godzilla movies, but also straight-up invented the technique of "suitmation" aka simulating a giant stomping through a city by putting an actor in a rubber suit and having them walk through a filmset filled with miniature buildings, cars, etc.
And it's fucking awesome!
Yeah, as you might be able to tell, I'm quite big fan of the franchise. I'm not gonna call myself a superfan or anything, partially becaus I have only really seen newer installments. Those are, in no particular order:
- Ultraman Z
- Ultraman Geed
- Ultraman R/B
- Ultraman X
- Ultraman Trigger
- Ultraman Decker
- Ultraman Blazar
- Ultraman Orb (currently watching)
I've also seen the Shin Ultraman movie (which is fucking amazing and you should watch it, even if you know nothing about Ultraman)
